A very good social day, the rain stopped just before the event and held off till the very end. I think there would have been in excess of 100 cyclists in period costume and many with period bikes. No…

One needs to remember that Nick Xenophon went into substancial debt to fund his campaigns and as a lawyer would probably have been better placed than many to repay his debt if the bid failed.

Given that my comment was within the thread I would have thought that my comment was at least equally legitimate to a personal attack such as yours.

Oddly enough I saw Tony Abbott walking through Adelaide some months ago, he was walking past Bicycle Express. He saw me with my bike but not a flicker of empathy or any other emotion crossed his face, he totally blanked me. Never have liked him, nev…

A minor conquest

So a month or so ago I tried to ride the Veloway with Adelaide cyclists but pulled out when I couldn't get my bottom chain ring to engage. Today, five days after my first ride on a new bike I returned to the scene. of defeat. I rode there from Modbury so had already clocked up nearly 30 km. I must the first 2 or 3 kms up the hill were tough on me and I stopped once or twice to catch my breath but from there on it was a relative breeze all the way to Mclaren Vale, I looked for the coffee shop

A small win

Some weeks ago I reported that Kathmandu were opening a large store in Modbury on Nth East road. A few days later I noticed that it was open but also noticed that something was lacking. Despite the glossy brochure and the huge poster on the front of the business promoting cycling accesories and clothing there were no facilities for cyclists to secure their bikes to whilst spending money in the shop. I sent an email to head office to draw attention to this oversight. I received a response advi

Service

So I went on a tour of bicycle shops today with a view to check out flat bar road bikes. Having already spent some time looking on the internet I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted, all be it subject to funds. So I went to the first shop. "I'm looking for a high end flat bar road bike" Yea well we got one here "sniff" and another over there but not much really, "sniff" we might get some more when the 2011 models come out in a few weeks "sniff".

Second shop. Had the bike I

Ring my bell

I find it quite remarkable that so many on this group dismiss bells on bicycles. There may be occaisions when it is too dangerous to move your hand to ring the bell but perhaps the bell should be fitted in a place closer to your hand or perhaps you are not riding in a safe manner. We complain about motorists breaking the law who in turn justify their actions and decry all cyclists but cyclists seem to think it's perfectly understandable to break the law and disregard simple courtesies. Anytim

One of the requirements is that you are a member of BikeSA for the insurance. Corporate rate for this is sub $30. The $130 price would be to register to ride in the Mutual Community Challenge Tour.

Hi Clive, just saw your comment re CVSA membership fee. A little confused, as far as I was aware it is still free? I will ask Ash for confirmation tho. There was some discussion of a small donation towards the jersey, but not membership.

Thanks for the tip on helmets, Clive, I did get one at Big W on the w/e, about $25.00, very comfortable, and made in A/a ( big surprise). Almost white. too, reasobaly reflective. I would have preferred to buy from a real shop, but that's life...more again soon ...

Also, I don't bother with the "stick" of lemongrass, the stuff out of the jar is fine. I do use fresh ginger always though, because I find it's a lot more potent than the stuff in the jar (which to me has a slightly salty flavour).

Ah, I love food. :)
