Went for a quick(?) dirt road spin up Old Bull Creek Rd. out of Strathalbyn this morning.
A beautiful day for it and the first climbing of any note that I've done for many years.
I went out a bit too hard like a fool and my body cried enough so I had a quick rest and a recalibration of my idea of my current abilities.
Once I convinced myself that I'm no less a man for using the granny, things looked up, so to speak.

heather said… Thanks for the hint about the Surly chro-moly. I do not have full back or neck movement after being hit by negligent drivers. So I require a MTB with upright position and a step-thru. Managed to buy a comfortable steel Trek MTB but in Australia the step-thrus are bottom-of-the-range and heavy. The latter is also a prob when travelling by air with the bike. Do you know of any bikes sold in Australia that fit my requirements?
