"Provided you cross sensibly then you shouldn't have a problem. If you try and race across dodging and weaving through pedestrians then that's not so smart. Give the pedestrians time and space and you should be alright."

"That's a good point, and would also make Daniel's manoeuvre illegal. I don't see any exception for bicycles in ARR 56. (Which says, in a nutshell, you must stop before the stop line, and can't cross it until the lights are green)."

I enjoy off-road cycling mainly. I have done several loaded bike tours such as Flinders Ranges and Kangaroo Island.
