Bike path along Anzac Hwy and West Tce... why does nobody like to use this?

As a tin-top driver for so long, it frustrated me that in peak hour traffic I would find cyclists on the road on Anzac Hwy and West Tce when there is a perfectly good cycle path through the parklands…

FAR OUT!! This has implications for South Australian bike paths such as the Unley Bicycle Route between Goodwood Rd and King WIlliam Rd. I previously mentioned how poor this path was in the dark, but the Judge's assertion that the path should have…

What bikes do you ride?
I am having a Southcott frame built into a bike for me by the guys at Parade Cycles at Norwood: SS with bullhorn bars. Also I just purchased a hard tail 21 speed mountain bike (for $20!) that I am hoping to convert to and xtracycle for the heavy lifting.

Life post cars...

I just want to preface this blog by saying that we have not had a car since June last year when our last car was taken off the road.

From time to time on a day off I get to sit in bed and enjoy a cup of Jo with my wife. We sometimes read and sometimes surf the web and always chat about what we are into at the time. This morning Jewlz reminded me that we were supposed to be heading to Croydon Park (we live in Mitchell Park) for a friend's birthday party this afternoon and so I started th… Continue

Rules for cycling...

First, do not attempt to ride a ladies stepthrough from Rosewater... especially when it is too small for you, has no extra seat height to give and you have never ridden it before.

Next, do not assume that said stepthrough has working lights, even thought they are fitted, have their own generator and the bloke you bought it from asks if you know how they work. Take your own lights with you.

Third, do put your knicks on even though the seat is padded and sprung. DO put your knick… Continue

Reform... or Revolution?

It is amazing how much thinking one gets done when one has the hang of turning one's legs over in rhythm with the bike. I had my easiest day of riding in the month that I have been commuting... just from reading some stuff on technique and doing what it said (or what I interpreted it said!)

I have noticed that the bike lanes on my commute home (regardless of which route I take) mostly finish at 6PM. Why? I have also noticed that most bike lanes are only ope

g`day Andrew,

30kms a day commute is a good effort, and I`m sure your benifiting in many ways.
Let`s hope your example encourages others in your workplace to do the same and commute by bike, or perhaps it was collegues that inspired you? Whatever way your effort is admirable.
Best regards
Jim

Sorry for the belated welcome but... Hi and welcome to Adelaide Cyclists.

We're a growing community of bike nuts. You can post discussion on the main page wall, maintain your own blog, post pics and videos and create events to invite others to. Groups are a sort of niche interest area - join existing ones or start your own.

You probably know there is some Xtracycle discussion on the cargo group - Jeremy Miller is the best contact for importing and building them if you need help.

Please tell your friends to stop by and join as well.

Cheers
Angus
