I think if I start about a km up Norton Summit Rd, that will make it 8km to the Mall's Balls. See you there! (I think the downhill run will give me the advantage ;-)

I have always wanted to do a Top Gear style race like the one that they did in London where there was a car, a bike and a jet boat all heading to the city from a common start position - the bike won easily. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top_Gear_Race

Hi Fixie Felix, Bike SA do free day hire & longer-term stuff http://www.bikesa.asn.au/servlet/Web?s=2060570&p=RiderInfo_Bikehire so I'd start there. Plenty of bike paths around Adelaide: there are a few sites to plan rides & maps of bike paths too…

Hi Amanda
I've sent in this letter to support yours to Independent Weekly: To: editorial@independentweekly.com.au

Subject: Prospect Cycle Lane Removal

Amanda (Letters 22/1/10) is right to 'get on her bike' and point out that Prospect Council's Prospect Road Master Master Plan is deficient regarding bicycle lanes by removing them . It does not meet requirements by our State Government's 'Safety in Numbers, A Cycling Strategy for SA 2006-2010' or 'Cyclists Road Rules and Safety''Share the Road' nor Federal Government 'A Metre Matters'. On its Australia Day event poster, Council encourages us to use sustainable travel to get to the event on Prospect Road- future cyclists may find it difficult! Even more difficult if the Prospect Mayor gets his way with a tram and pedestrian mall at Prospect Road central. Master Plan p.8 'easy to access by bus and foot' - no bikes; p.22 mentions number of cyclists using peak hour cycle lane is 'low'-any wonder when there is no dedicated cycle lane;p.23 solution is a 'shared space zone' for cars/bikes..' A search on Prospect Council's web had no Bicycle Plan but Traffic Management page Under construction Due for completion May 2009. Sorry for any inconvienence this may have caused reveals the true state of the lack of consultation with, and lack of respect for our cycling community (even the spelling mistake is theirs).

Hi. I was just catching up on the latest issue of Urban Velo and I came across your 'Love Riding in the City' contribution. I am saying 'your' because seeing your profile pic here has a very close similarity to the one from the mag!

Congratulations for getting chosen - I bet they get 1000s of submissions. It was a plug in their blog for 'Veloist.com' that made me think I should just start this site.

I was thinking of featuring the page as a blog post. I won't 'out' you - would you mind? You could out yourself if you want!

Happy cycling!

Cheers
Angus
