All of my bikes are either completely built up, restored or modified by myself. The Kuwahara was bought new in 1991, and the frame has done over 45,000 km of commuting, training, racing and time trials. Most of that in WA, but now gets regular use in my new home area of north west Tasmania. All three bikes get used often on Bass Highway and surrounds. I live in a very hilly area, and so have a lowest gear of 27T on the TCR2 and a 26T on the Kuwa. The Avanti has of course a triple chain ring, so can get away with a close ratio 11 to 21.
The Giant TCR2 was bought new in 2001, used in WA for time trials with the Australian Time Trial Association, and has done over 15,000 km. It was also ridden to a third place in the 2002 Western Australian Road Hill Climb Championships. The Avanti was bought new about the same time, but has done only 12.000 km, mostly commuting - - now my "shopping" bike.
Both the Giant TCR2 and the Kuwa get used for club racing and charity event riding.
