The Muddies

A road cycling group based in the southern suburbs. Social/training rides will be held on alternate Saturday mornings  starting from various locations, see the "Events" section of this site for details of the next ride.

All riders with sufficient fitness to tackle the undulations and hills of the Fleurieu peninsula and Adelaide hills are welcome.

Riders ride at their own risk of injury or bicycle damage and are strongly advised to have some form of cycle specific insurance.

A tail end Charlie will usually be appointed on each ride to ensure no one gets left behind.

Hmm, first-hand experience from Rich and Pat suggests that "Map My Misery" understates the gradient...

Comment by Richard Stevens on June 23, 2012 at 19:24

Yes indeed Pat... I was just checking the gradient as I don't remember it being easy as 3.5km at 4.6%..  :)  A singled out a 1.8km stretch and got a more accurate figure of 8% avg...  some out of the saddle stuff there but very rewarding to finish. ;)  I'm out for this ride as the wife is having a girly weekend in Melbourne.

'three'.  Hear that? "THREE". three rings=granny gear supremecy. Also been practicing riding off the saddle. bring it on!

route looks good Pat. Looking forward to Education road. 3.5 km @ 4.6%.

There are some 'interesting' routes through Hallett Cove if youwant to get off Lonsdale as soon as possible after Noarlunga.

L and P ride events are up on the SSRC group for June, July and August if you are interested.

I'm pretty sure Pat has said it is an event and is sticking with it

@Pat I went with the Tailwind group at Easter and it's a nice ride, even if a little tough on the way to Mt Lofty.

Comment by Phil Crick on June 11, 2012 at 17:47

@Pat, go the other way round, Hallett Cove, across Reynell Rd, up Chandlers, across cherry gardens and Ironbank, up to Stirling, across the freeway, up Lofty, down greenhill, across Anzac to Glenelg - stop for a feed then the usual route back along the coast back to HC.

would suggest Lofty for the next ride with all the rides happening on the Sunday - was thinking down the Sthn Exy, up Shepards Hill, through Coro Valley, down Blacks road, down Cement Hill, then up Coast to Vines via Marino
