Tuesday Morning Mount Lofty Madness

Information

Tuesday Morning Mount Lofty Madness

We ride to Mt Lofty via the Old Freeway every Tuesday morning. We meet at the corner of Portrush Rd and Mt Barker Rd (aka the Freeway) next to the big gum tree (NOT at the Tollgates) at 5:50am and aim to be back at the start by 7:00 am.

TMMLM Ride Info

The ride takes place each week all year round. About the only time we won't be riding is if its raining, the rain radar shows rain on Mt Lofty or we are out of town.

Numbers currently vary from 2-6 riders.

Pace is moderate (i.e. will suit riders who can ride from the traffic lights to the bollards in 27-35 minutes).

We regroup at Eagle on the Hill and the Bollards and continue on to Mt Lofty, although some people choose to head home at the Bollards.

Coffee and bakery treats on offer around once a month.

Good lights essential during the winter months.

The group Discussion Forum and Comment wall frequently gets off-topic and we some-times engage in a bit of trash talk. But that's OK cos that's what cycling is all about, right?

Don't be put off by our grandiose ride reports...its amazing how you can turn a pootle up a hill into a major UCI bike race with the right words.

I will admit that my jaw did drop with envy. My main problem is that the nature of my injury is that I don't know how much it is going to decide to hurt until it decides to hurt... I might have promised my specialist that I wouldn't do it again too.

David, It would be absolutely awesome to do the summit that quick. The bollards I am referring to are at the top of the track. (9K Strava segment)

Are you talking about the bollards at the summit or the bollards at the top of the track? Lights to bollards was almost 40 mins. Tollgate to lofty was 53.

David I am not sure who will be riding tomorrow morning.  Two of the TMMLM stalwarts will be no shows.  How slow is pretty slow?  I normally ride from the lights to bollards in around 32 to 34 minutes.  Do you use Strava? If so what username do you use?

I did my first Lofty since my cartilage went snap and was pretty slow the other weekend. Having said that I don't mind getting dropped... Paying all my riding by ear (knee actually) though.

Any starters for tomorrow morning?  AVO is in Melbourne for a conference and I think Snappy Don mentioned he will also be away

Hoping to make a few of these rides in spring.

I remember those nights! All 5 years of them.....

Anyway apologies to anyone who turned up this morning. I arrived right on ten to six and no-one there. Saw some lights blinking at the toll gates so took off in hot pursuit - but they were the Lanterne Rouge chaps.

Hope to see a few people next week :-)

Listening to the dulcet tones of a crying 5 month old, I am going to hold off on returning until next Tuesday.  Enjoy the dry (hopefully) ride.
