I think Ride With GPS is the best route planning GPS websites. It's better than Strava and Garmin connect for planning routes and better than Garmin for analysing a ride but now Ride With GPS has taken on Strava in the segments game. They're even calling them segments!
Segments offer a great way to get involved with cycling in your area. You can see who has been riding the same roads, and, you can quickly figure out how you perform on sections of your favorite ride. The concept is simple - create a segment from either an uploaded activity or a route you have drawn using our bike route planner.
Once you have created a segment, we will automatically match the segment to all existing activities and routes in our system. As soon as the matches are made, everyone who has traveled along that segment will be notified of their rank and will be able to view a special page dedicated to the segment.
Finally, whenever an activity is uploaded to our site, we will automatically match and rank it on all segments, and show you the matches when you view the ride. We'll also let others know if you pushed them down the leaderboard.
The page for a particular segment will allow you to interact with each match made on that segment. You can easily view the stats for any match, as well as comment on the segment.
Bring it on !
oh bugger! Ive just sorted my free Strava membership until 2015.
"Ride with GPS UP!".......not quite the same ring....
It's a bit of a mouthful to yell, "RidewithGPS Segment" as you break into a sprint though... :-P
:( no iphone love
It does if you use this Matt, and this is not nearly as draining on your iPhone battery as the Strava software is.
I now use a Garmin 500 but have used both the Strava software and the Cyclemeter.
will definitely check this out!
@Rob - The GPS only does what you used to do with your non-GPS Polar unit
GPS's in whatever form, just do all the work for us, all we have to do is just ride :)
