Permalink Reply by Simon Lownsborough on May 14, 2012 at 22:55 erm, yes. This is my daily commute (and others of course) - as well as being used by hundreds of cyclists each weekend. Laughable, really - shows a complete lack of understanding of how people use bikes. I suspect they couldn't resolve the issue. This corner worked better before they altered the roundabout. Bad design, with the cycle lane an afterthought, instead of part of the planning process.
It's great that the authority is extending cycling lanes along Military Rd. They just need to be more switched on at roundabouts. Aren't there any town planners out there that ride a bike?!
Permalink Reply by heather on May 14, 2012 at 23:33 Simon, my impression from the photos is that the travel lanes are not wide enough for a bicycle alongside of a car. Can you answer this?
Very obvious that the bicycle lane ends but DPTI also omitted to install an 'end of bicycle lane' sign.
Tonight I emailed the DPTI project manager on behalf of Adelaide BUG.

"Thanks for the email - I was made aware of the error this late this afternoon and have instructed our painting contractor to correct this asap. There was an error in application in the line marking which differed from what the design is for this roundabout.
Appreciate you taking the time to let me know and will get this corrected as a matter of priority.
Thank you once again."
