Not sure if it's connected to the new update but I had to load this mornings ride to strava manually, took ages searching for activities.

yep - yours is borked too by the sounds of it Pat.

I pinched the fix files off Adam.  They are useless.  There is a Garmin update programme and it cant even detect the 500 as a usb device.

Im just waiting for the next firmware update.

How often does Garmin bring out Firmware updates?

AVO phoned me with a suggested fix, he had a similar problem. Delete any courses from the Garmin and it should allow the auto upload. I'll try it tomorow and let you know.

yep - made sure all my courses and activities were gone before the firmware update.

Not to steal your thunder Patrick but after a frustrating week (after the upgrade) after reading your post I deleted the 'Courses' and the 500 now uploads automatically.  Thank you Ball Boys.

Make sure you havn't got dozens of rides in the activies folder..  I clear mine out monthly and it speeds up the initial search

After putting off updating since the update was released I finally did it. All went well but now when I went to upload my ride it hung for ages (like 12 hours) so I had to do a master reset and now seems fine. I did remove courses and delete activities except today's ride to make it faster as was Garmin's recommendation.

Nothing ever works properly with firmware updates! Maybe I should have read through this post more thoroughly before doing it.

I tried an upgrade today and then fired the unit up for a ride... It launched into the 'upgrade' screen etc and then went blank and some 4 hours later is still blank and I cannot turn the unit on / off etc..

Is this similar to what others had or am I alone in this problems and does anyone have any solutions..???

Also, am trying to find whether there is a factory reset feature.. Haven't investigated that option yet and will try and find out..
