Ok fella's and ladies, I said that I had a cunning plan and my cunning plan worked. In the heat of today slaving over a hot CNC in a hot shed I finished my Garmin lug replacement device. It works remarkably well for the first iteration with only a little bit of play left to right but very secure overall.

wow...   that's an impressive bit of work! :)    how does that attach to the garmin?

I have read in the forums about the mount breaking on the Garmin 705 model  but not too many complaints about the Garmin 500....nice fix Alistair....did it break within the  2 year warranty period and would such a breakage be covered.  Definitely looks a better fix than wire ties or duct tape :)

Genius Al - how do you attach metal lug to the Garmin ? superglue?

Yes, got it in one RD6. I was going to try epoxy but superglue seems to work well.

Alastiar, I wouldn't have thought that Superglue would be able to sustain the vibration, its not really a great glue for Metals. Superglue is usually too brittle. Epoxy or Urethane would be better long term.
