Not sure how many of you know how to do this, but at times it may be useful to backup your Edge 500 to keep your data safe (not ride data but personal data, device settings etc) in case you may need to reset or replace your Edge 500, you can get the new one back to being like your old one easily. This is copied directly from Garmin Support....How can I back up my personal settings and profiles on my Edge 500?Certain circumstances may arise where you will want to save your settings, profiles, and…Continue

After a member lost his garmin device on another thread it was discovered you can add a phone number, email address on the start up of the garmin, so an honest person can reunite you with your garminMight be a handy tool to use: copied from that thread, thanks to Don Macdonald Not sure what you are doing but from what you say it appears you are trying to add a startup text file, that is not the way to do it you find the startup.txt file that is already there and add the info you want to it.The…Continue

Just wondering if anyone has come up with this problem. My Edge 800 will no longer connect to my computer. It keeps coming up with 'this accessory is not recognised'I have replaced the drivers and have tested the connection with my old Edge 705 which works fine. I have even tried 9 different cables.I am really thinking I am going to have to send it off to get it repaired (or swapped which is their normal method)Continue

Ok fella's and ladies, I said that I had a cunning plan and my cunning plan worked. In the heat of today slaving over a hot CNC in a hot shed I finished my Garmin lug replacement device. It works remarkably well for the first iteration with only a little bit of play left to right but very secure overall.Continue

Over in another discussion I mentioned how the Garmin Edge 500 could show some directions from a pre-loaded course. There were a comments that I was wrong and the reviews and manual indicated so but I was sure I'd seen some thing. The review from …Continue

Comment by Richard S on Thursday @ Mick... good shipping price!!
@RD6 you to can have one:
Not sure it would leave it any more exposed than on top of the stem, maybe even less exposed, it would be protected by the front wheel in frontal impacts and the hoods in the event the bike flips
Comment by RD6 on May 9, 2012 at 14:39 as long you got bike insurance Adam, it should be covered
Only thing I'd be concerned about Rob is that it leaves the Garmin quite exposed in the event of a crash.

Comment by Matt Wilson on April 19, 2012 at 20:17 Yesterday and today my heart rate is measuring quite intermittently on the Edge 500. This in turn means that the calorie count is really low compared to my regular commutes. Anyone experienced this before and have any tips on how to fix?
