Any ideas for improving Adelaide cycling -- then post on Adelaide BUG

The Adelaide City Council is seeking ideas from cyclists for its next ACC Bicycle Action Plan. You can write a formal submission, or more simply post your ideas on the web page of Adelaide BUG (Bicycle User Group). The only criteria for joining is that you cycle (distinct from reside) in the CBD or North Adelaide. So go to www.adelaidecyclists.com/group/adelaidebug and join. Then post your ideas under the discussion 'Adelaide City Council's Bicycle Action Plan – ideas welcome', no later than Friday 18 March.

First suggestion - ban all motor cars.

Second suggestion - build car parks outside the city, then ban all cars.

Third suggestion - change my medication to something that doesn't make me delusional.

Being serious for a moment Heather, I will have a good think about it. I no longer commute into the city but I did for three years and my son has just started (for uni). Interestingly, I've talked him into a longer route that avoids riding in the CBD at all (thank you for the Torrens bike path) - maybe just making that point is sufficient.

Richard, will you post on Adelaide BUG where ACC will see it?

Perhaps along the lines of too much traffic in the CBD for safe cycling. Can people be encouraged to use cars less, and buses and bicycles more, by increasing the price of car parking in the ACC's U-Park. Adelaide has much cheaper car parking than Sydney and Melbourne where more people use public transport.

You may like to check out an Adelaide BUG discussion where is posted a map of shared paths in the parklands. Some cyclists find this longer route lets them commute to work while avoiding busy roads. Also very pleasant with native trees and sounds of birds.
