Well I sent a message to everyone on this group offering to teach people wheel building in a small group. Eg I'd help you build up any wheelset, from a clunker to your dream crabon fibray wheelset.

And I was suprised that I got a sum total of.... zero!...takers from AC (Got a few from PACC though ;-)

So if anyone wants to take me up on this you need to be quick as I'm setting a date soon and you'll need to get your required parts in asap.  Eg you need to have rims and hubs on order soon, so we can determine spoke requirements.

BYO card table, chair and beverages.

Last chance as I already have my rims here stretching some tyres... PM me if you're interested.

Gemma,  sorry I didn't respond.  Thanks for the offer.  It is definitely something I'm interested in learning at some point, but have a few too many other things on the list at the moment.  Have fun!
I've built a few wheels, courtesy of mug ignorance and Sheldon Brown's instructions. I'm about to do it again (is some kind person donates a rear hub) so a course from someone who actually knows what they're doing would be good.
I'm still thinking about it but it's probably a yes :)
Saw a wheel today at bike polo that'd test you out - 20", 48 spokes, 4 cross pattern, very deep rims ... and it was the builder's first wheel!
when was this???? I have a pair of shimano rs-20's one has a bent spoke, could I bring those to respoke, or should I bring my old school arayas and put some modern spokes on them? I didn't see a message or I would have responded earlier

Hey Gemma

A very generous offer... Count me in I need a blingy set of wheels for the "LOOK" and the "Colnago"

I will need to have a chat and work out what to get etc...

Rob W, it was a week ago.  And your RS20's are built to fail as they don't have enough spokes to start with ;-)

Bec I'll have a chat!  Bling track wheels are an easy project.

I now have enough people to fill the garage :-)

Richard I have a pair of MTB hubs (shimano compatible) that I don't want nor need.

@ Bec.....you can always gold plate the spokes for that extra bit of "Bling"  :)))
Gemma, I do love your work but I just bought some new wheels, but I do understand you are offering the dark art not the actual getting of wheels. I will take you up on it next time.... promise.

if anyone is interested I stumbled across an excellent price on OPEN PRO clincher rims on sale

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=17147

Mavic are very proud to make these rims

a set of hand tensioned Open Pro's on some nice hubs with good spokes ... not over blingy

but in my opinion for street training it wouldn't get much better

Yep, that's what I ride - but the ceramic version of the open pro for extra bling and less less (oh, and brakes that work in the wet!)

@ Gemma....yes I like those Open Pro rims the ceramic version are pretty cool:)
