Not nicknamed the "Gill-otine" for nothing!

Ah ok, cool. At the very least I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only person who has trouble on it. Not with the gradient (well, you know ...) but with other associated factors.

It was only 'optional' and most people piked on it. I rode up it behind another guy who had to stop & in lip because he couldn't keep his front wheel down.

I've never been able to ride down it. I lock up and skid but keep gaining momentum whilst skidding. Had to tip myself over the first time just to stop. I'm too heavy!

Question about the Gill extension - how did that go last year with a whole bunch of people on it all at once?

I've only ridden it the once and at the time it was covered in pine needles so I was heaps worried about slipping a wheel on the way up and ended up walking part of the way down. It's also really, really narrow - I didn't really enjoy it and was happy to tick it off my list and be done with it.

nice little addition that one, it's a pretty tough effort despite the short distance.

I'll tidy this Group us shortly to reflect 2014...  And I'll get the event up soon too.  Busy busy busy!

In the meantime, I have reflected on the route and made one final adjustment.  Out is Knox Tce, in is the climb suggested by Steve below.  It breaks up a long transition point nicely.

Here is the route again for reference - http://ridewithgps.com/routes/4120207

Thanks Stephen.  Yeah I know that hill, but haven't actually ridden it myself yet.  That will break up that section nicely, but then which hill to drop....  I'll keep thinking... Cheers for the feedback.

I rode down there about 6 months ago, it's a good test and might break up the Norton to Upper Sturt section.  Might be one to keep up your sleeve as an option for later maybe.
