CFFRS Ride Info

Starting from the Tower Hotel at 05.50 am we ride up Norton Summit and onto a predetermined route. Historically the par course was through Ashton then towards the sunrise and Forest Range along the Lobethal Road before returning via Deviation Road through Carey Gully to Uraidla and Summertown.

Other routes have been do ascend or descend Pound Rd, Corkscrew via Gorge Rd or Greenhill Rd ascent.

The ride will take place each week all year round. Regardless* of the weather there will be at least 1 person riding every Friday. Numbers vary from 1 - 5 riders, and the pace is moderate (i.e. will suit riders who can ascend Norton in 18-23 minutes). When the sunrise is particularly spectacular, time will be set aside for a group hug, so the more riders, the bigger the hug!

We regroup at the top of the major ascents, and the return to the city can be via Norton Summit, Greenhill Rd or Mt Lofty.

Decent lights and sense of humour essential!

* Disclaimer - if it is raining before the due start time, it might be a no-goer. But if you are feeling particularly Belgian, turn up, you won't regret just not going!

AVO and Snappy are you riding tomorrow morning?

In a prediction of the future: due to a couple huge stages of the TDF I predict a very minimal (if any) turnout for tomorrow.

See you ALL next week though!!

Hard men. it was so cold planes were grounded in Adelaide for nearly 3 hours this morning until the sun warmed up enough to melt the ice on the wingtips! Glad you could all take advantage of beautiful views. All I got to see was the inside of the qantas lounge....

Yup, cold, but clear views, planets, hillsides silhouetted against the brightening sky, frost covered fields and vineyards, stars, and a stunning sunrise. 100% lucky to be living in Adelaide.

BRRRR!

It was a very cold CFFRS thismorning as DDude, Nigel, Tom and myself headed up Norton with DDude and myself in the breakaway. After getting to Ashton I saw that every living plant was frosted. Nigel left us to go on the attack up Marble Hill as we headed into the frost. It was a very relaxing ride with the descents taken slowly to present frost bits and every hill was greated with a smile.

As the sun came up whilst travelling Deviation Rd the sunrise was amazing and by the time we all got to the lofty gates we could actually feel the sun. At that stage we left Tom to call home, we also left our fingers and feet - not to be felt again until we got home.

To see Yorke Pensinsula whilst on the freeway was amazing. The beauty of such a clear morning.
