Permalink Reply by rossmg on April 25, 2012 at 22:08 Oh, that looked like fun.
I was thinking, freaking around corners - yikes! A car is one thing but pedestrains - then I noticed the dudes standing watch on those corners...
Permalink Reply by Don (Who's lost?) Nairn on April 25, 2012 at 12:53 I must admit I was looking at ally-cat racing recently.
I would think the participants should pay the fines after all don't the participants decide if they behave in a manor that they will get a fine?
Also aren't there legal issues about encouraging people to break the law.
But what the heck I am happy to assist in organizing one.
As long as I won't loose my house if someone gets a clever lawyer.
Permalink Reply by Shav Bird on April 25, 2012 at 13:49 wow, that Shanghai video is nuts. Riding like lunatics, on opposites sides of the road, dodging cops, dropping bikes to get your wrist band, dodging other riders etc. Crazy. I am sure car drivers will be up in arms about it. In saying that, I love the idea.
Permalink Reply by Sam Young on April 25, 2012 at 13:56 Pretty sure there was one held about a month ago at tuxedo cat. I didn't end up making it, so I'm not sure how many ended up racing, but I'd be keen to get involved.
Permalink Reply by Shav Bird on April 25, 2012 at 13:58 My guess is it's highly discreet to avoid issues with authorities?
Any idea on details of the event?
Permalink Reply by Sam Young on April 25, 2012 at 14:14 my bad, at format, not tuxedo cat, here was the facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/254814807932519/
Permalink Reply by Richard on April 25, 2012 at 14:18 Yes, there was one held here recently.
Like all these things, it'll have to bend to the culture of the city - much of the riding in the first video wouldn't be tolerated here by the community and so should be discouraged (such as by making the rider pay any fines for example).
Mental! Do that in Adelaide and then the car/truck/non cyclists will have even more LEGITIMATE ammo.
Absolutely stupid idea.
