Ride Summary
This week we are giving away a copy of the book “IT’S ALL ABOUT THE BIKE” by Robert Penn. All AC members can enter. All you need to do is post on this ride report a “Why did the chicken cross the road?” joke. Every joke goes into the barrel and the winning entry will be drawn at the GW Ride Brief next Saturday. Closes Friday night at 6.00 pm. The book will be posted to the lucky winner.
Prior to the ride we were joined by AC member Don Nairn who dropped by to say hi to the GWs. Great to meet you Don! We also welcomed newbie Jonah…(rode brilliantly!). 32 riders set off this morning on the 24km leg to Two Wells. A gusty cross-wind did not slow the group down and we arrived at Two Wells in record time. (Who was the male rider who went into the female toilets there??)
Not long after we started the Virginia leg we heard calls from the front group of riders of “Chicken Up”. Yes, we had to slow down for a chicken crossing the road!! Why did the chicken cross the road???
Following the regroup at Virginia we made quick time down Penfield Road to join the Stuart O’Grady Bikeway. That’s where the fun really started. The SOB bikeway had been swept during the week so the super smooth surface was clean as a whistle. That, coupled with a terrific tailwind, meant that we slammed the last 20km with all riders averaging 30-40kph on the leg home. Our Tail End Charlie (Mick) said this morning that we had to be back by 10.30 as he had a wedding to go to. We have to keep our TECs happy, so in great riding conditions we did just that and arrived back home by 10.00!
Back at Jaspers Café we were pleasantly surprised to see Reidy and Matthew waiting for us, fresh from their Ride4Repat experience. While we were sipping on our coffee they gave the group a fantastic insight into their recent epic ride. Thanks for joining us this morning guys and well done on your achievement!
NEXT WEEK: For all those who are not going away we will be holding one group ride on EASTER SATURDAY through the beautiful Barossa Valley. YOU are welcome to join us. Check AC “Events” for the details. Today’s photo gallery follows:

Why did the chicken cross the road?
Bill Clinton: "I did not cross the road with THAT chicken. What's your definition of crossing".
Einstein: "Did the chicken really cross the road or did the road move beneath the chicken?"

Gawler Wheelers is all about comradeship, fun, fitness and chasing our dreams. Join the GW group on AC. Come on our rides. Contact details below. Until next week >> Cheers for now...Frank.

Must admit us tail enders did push pretty hard today...We did it for MICK lmao...
And why did the chicken cross the road ??? because it had heard that there were to be no delays with pile ups over any chickens this morning due to MICK having to be back at Jaspers by 10.30...
I am just over the moon today with how I rode this morning...Even that damn head wind to Two Wells didn't push me under like it did the first time I ventured out there with you guys...I have been having a pretty stressful week at work but today's event with you guys blew that out of me...
My average speed today was better than I have ever achieved so far since I took up this bike riding craze lol. even better than on the SOB on my own during the week training...I cant believe what I did today..27.8kph av.. I'm over the moon :) :)
Great bunch of guys and gals to ride with especially Paul who keeps me honest :)
Looking forward to next weeks ride which I know will test me hard to my extreme limits of my widdle legs :)
Why did the chicken cross the road? To check Wilsons chicks hadn't chucked their Easter googies a week early.

Permalink Reply by terry heney on March 31, 2012 at 16:13 Why did the chicken cross the road ???? Because it didn't know how to ride a bike :)
or..And God came down from the heavens, and He said unto the chicken, "Thou shalt cross the road." And the chicken crossed the road, and there was much rejoicing.
