Who rode today (Friday)?
The weather today made me think that it would only be the hard core cyclists that set out from home in the rain knowing the whole ride was likely to be in the rain.
Is there a line between hard core and stupid?
If you cycled today what would it take to make you abandon a ride?
I must admit I don't even know where Belgium is :-)

Yes I rode my postie scooter for about 4 1/2 hrs . Bloody luxury compared to yesterday ,, I hardly got wet today .Was disappointed that it was to cold & wet for me to get out on the pushy by the time I got home @ 3:30 .
I'm looking forward to GS3 @ Yankalilla on Sun. morning , does that make me hardcore ?

I rode the rustBike until in the city at 7pm Morphet & Grote area decided it would be easier to just walk the bike with all the backed up traffic

Rode to and from work. Layered up. Was toasty warm. Didn't get too wet.

My primary reason for not riding in the wet is safety. Reduced visibility and traction significantly increase the risks in the wet. Of course the thought of being cold and wet helps motivate me to put safety first.

Q1. I was out v.early on Friday for a hills ride. Roads were damp- but not a drop of rain. Mind you the Garmin doo-dad registered 3.6° over the back of Basket Range so I guess it was a bit extreme.
Q2- Anyone harder core than me is obviously stupid. Like the old line ''I'm a wine connoisseur , you're a drunkard..''
Q3- Rain I can tolerate, and you adjust your speed and riding style to the conditions. It's high wind that scares me. And hail can really sting the face. nasty stuff hail.
Q4- I know Belgian beer is good, and they have a thing for 'frittes', so I already like the place even though I could take or leave riding on cobblestones.

Yep, I rode starting at 5:30am. Did not encounter any rain. A freyed gear cable, after reaching the Victory Hotel on Selicks Hill, in the lever stopped me early so I returned home using the chainrings as a two speed. Completed 81.1km in 3 1/2 hours without getting wet. Arrived home in time to start my normal work ;-)

Yep, rode Friday - commute Semaphore > Glenelg, then reverse at 5.30.
Thing that annoys me is my shoes are wet soaked for days after. I have 2 pairs, but on consecutive rainy days it gets tricky.
If anyone knows of decent WATERPROOF shoe covers I'd love to know.

No such thing in my experience, most just barely manage to keep the cold wind out!
Try a bread bag and elastic band, probably save yourself $40+ of finding out the expensive way!

I rode that day, and yep, chilly but enjoyable in the morning, and drowned rat in the evening.
Wouldn't have it any other way... just imagine being stuck inside one of those smelly, out-of-control car thingamies with a heater and a spoonfull of d1ckh3ad pills in the driver....
Rain I can handle, it's wind that impacts on my enjoyment most.
Or not being able to ride.
