From the SBS Cycling Central website - "Australian WorldTour squad GreenEDGE has released a statement to the media explaining that it intends to announce a title sponsor for the team on Tuesday, May 1 in Melbourne".

I always wondered if Australia was going to have a WorldTour team, who would be the main sponsor - QANTAS, BHP, WESTPAC? and I guess my question will be answered on Tuesday. I was thinking that the company should have a presence in Europe, or going to have one.

Who do you think would be an appropriate Australian sponsor - Barbecues Galore, XXXX, Vegemite, Mortein? Or are they not going to be Australian??

Do their corporate colours have to be GREEN???

I guess if you are a purist and want to show support for Green Edge over and above a sponsor (and green is your thing) then the jersey below is the one for you. Saves buying yet another one as the sponsorship changes.

Beware the fine print re "illustration purposes" though.

I am still going to support GreenEdge-Orica the rest of this year and beyond, but I have to question them potentally alienating their fan base by having an environmentally dodgy corporate sponsor.

No multi-national company, especially one in mining and chemicals, are ever going to be squeaky clean, but Orica don't even come close. It is all about $$$, and them trying to buy some credibility, I hope it doesn't backfire on GreenEdge?
