Just trying to suss out which bike I should buy. I plan to upgrade from aluminium to carbon, and my budget is $2000, but if I can get something amazing for slightly more, I'd be keen.

All bikes are 105 groupset, and I have some decent wheels and pedals to throw on the new carbon. I plan to use it for longer rides (50km+) and as a dry-weather bike.

This is the De Rosa 348 (the one in the shop is Shimano, not Campy), $2200

Fuji Altamira 3.0 $1800

Focus 3.0 $2399

Thoughts? Which is the best value?

Aldgate Bike Shop is selling down its Bianchi stocks. Kim is away sick this week but he should be back on deck on monday. Im pretty sure  saw some sub $2000 bikes on the wall last time I was in the shop.

Called him up last week, he said the best carbon he could get was $3000 sadly. I'd love a Bianchi, but need to settle for something cheaper

The alloy Bianchis are good.....

Good alloy over bad carbon anyday! Not sure it be an upgrade!

DeRosa is a sin with shitmano, it beckons for campy!

Apart from that, why not go looking for a good frame and do own build up!
Hi Daniel
I like the Altamira 3.0 and looked at getting the 2012 model. However the 2011 model was selling for $1700 instead of $2400 for the 2012 version. Also the spec was slightly better in the 2011 one.
I've had the bike for nearly 6 months now and ridden 1600kms. The only problem I've had is with the wheels. There was an issue with the wheels and according to the bike shop and research on the net most were sent back to the factory to be fixed.
After having issues with the wheels with spokes becoming loose and wheels out of true the bike shop replaced the wheels with new Shimano wheels.

I don't know much about the other 2 bikes but, apart from the wheel issue, I've been more than happy with the Fuji.

don't forget that dodgy chain!!

More to do with a dodgy home bike mechanic! :-0

You realize that if you get any of these, you'll be duty-bound to win every race to the top of a hill that we have, ever. I like the De Rosa best.

Until you upgrade :-)

Silly me thought it was strong legs and fitness that makes you go fast on a bike.

don't forget the white bartape Don.

totally pro.
