Adelaide Hills cyclist Justin Dunn Have/will been training heavy for 7 months this year to represent DCA, Deaf Cycling Australia once again at a national level for International Deaf Cycling for Tour De Formosa Tournment in Tawian, a minor Tour de France that covers 6 stages, 905kms in 1 week in mountainous terrians in November 2nd to 9th 2012.
I feel that the support towards DCA from Australia is very little, I feel that no one cares about Reece, Victorian rider whom have grabbed several gold, silver and bronze medals in the past recently and my effort to fight tooth and nail to represent Australia with no support/little support and paying out our own pockets at international events.
An old website from 2010 Tour info on me was published in error because I did 40kms solo not 17kms.
To View, Please see, http://dvelo.com/376/tour-de-formosa-2010-stage-6-jiaosi-yilan-to-t...

Anyone have an idea of whom Australian business/function can sponsor DCA or any support at all?

No Support means no future?

Very sad indeed that no support can be found for these athletes that are representing their country. I take my hat off to them for supporting themselves for the dedicatcation needed for the honor of wearing the Green and Gold. Hoping you can find sponsors to at least cover some of the expenses. Good luck in the tour.

Thankyou Torsten,
Yes, Hopefully someone kind will come along with much support.
No matter how little is better than nothing.

Unfortunately this is widespread in Australian sport. Aussie Rules, cricket, swimming (when the olympics come around) maybe tennis. If you don't participate in a popular sport you have to have a "day" job.

I was a very competitive rower, it was not the only reason I stopped but if I was to continue then I would have been paying for not only my transport but also transport of the boat and equipment to overseas events. Combine 5 hours a day with work, makes it very tough.

It is a reality of Australian sport, unfortunately.

Thanks Blake

I sort of understand ur suitation, I find DCA in the same boat as you.
Cycling Australia, AIS, DSA, hasnt shown interest or support in a big way yet even there has been gold, silver and bronze collected without their support,

Doesnt make sense, by the way I am retiring from cycling after Tour De Formosa in Tawian this Nov.
I wont wear the Aussie Jesery, why should I so I will wear something different and race there for myself with Reece,
Not for Australia unless they support the fellow Australians.

I used to work 50-60 hrs a week night shifts to keep training but my body clock went way out whack and got sick so I have moved to 3 days a week, just for until end of Nov.

Its sad.

I would be willing to make a donation to your trip.how would i be able to do this..You could ride in a Adelaide cyclist jersey

Thankyou Scott,
Any Donations would be much appreciated, no matter how small,

I can get DCA Bank Details from Reece for you, if thats ok.
I can private message you with the bank details?

Reece and I am selling DCA socks made by Nemisis for fundraising.
Would you be more interested in the DCA socks or you still would like to make a donation?

I will talk to Gus K, ADL to put up the DCA flyer for socks on ADL.

Looking Forward hearing back from you.

Regards

Justin Dunn

Hi feel free to send me the bank details.I would also be interested in socks. How many pairs have you got.I could ask if anyone on my group rides is keen for some and i can take them to the rides

I am rather disappointed with Cycling Australia about this - especially with the funding available to cyclists with a disability, hearing impairment doesn't fall under their para - cycling disability classification.

yeah, sad world here Robbo
No Australian Spirit.
