Been looking at potential new bikes for over a year now. Looking for a carbon road bike with Ultegra gear. Only stipulation for me is that I don't want a black bike. Yet just about everything on the market comes out with an amazing choice of colours as long as they are black, predomimently black or black with colour highlights.
Has Henry Ford taken over the bike industry or is black paint cheap?
Whats the obsession with making bikes invisible up against black bitumen? Did the fashion industry invade the cycling faternity and decide that Black is the "in" colour for the past 2 years and maybe the next 2.
What I do know is that when a whole bunch of bikes are lined up at the coffee shops now they all look the same. Considering how much some people are prepared to pay for their "individual" bike I am amused that they all look alike.
I'm hoping a bike manufacturer will see this post and dare to be different!
Anyone else notice this dull trend or have I gone colour blind?

An alternate theory would be that the extra photon absorbing abilities if black and the partial theory of light may make you go just the little faster with the sun behind you.

Permalink Reply by RD6 on April 16, 2012 at 21:22 you can order "rodman" frame with a choice of colors as I know four riders personally with customized builds e.g. different groupsets and wheelsets
Permalink Reply by Peter Macdonald on April 16, 2012 at 23:36 The Rodman looks ineresting. But very average website. They don't appear to tell you what the frame is made from, how much they cost or what the difference between the models shown actually is. Hard to make a decision on that.

At least you can pick any frame with any color that you like.
