Relatively new to this site and just wondering what the rules are regards putting up a discussion and then closing it off for replies. Is it at the Authors discretion? Not hoping to generate a lot of replies just the one explanation will do. Thanks.

To put up a discussion, just join the site, then post what topic you want.
Closing it off - not sure if that is done formally ? The front page lists discussions, starting with the one, with the most recent reply. So when there are lots of people interested and replying - the topic it stays visible. When the topic's worn out - it goes down the list.
Any other questions -ask Angus Kingston who runs it.
Rule of thumb - don't post re Helmets or Lance Armstrong.
If you want to live in Copenhagen please do so, but don't tell us about it and just go.
Simple :-)
some subjects are touchier than others, apparently ...
Yes indeed.
By all means mention Fabian Cancellara as often as possible because ET always chimes in with a spectacular photo or 2 :-)
Seriously though, this group self-moderates fairly well most of the time. I believe that you can delete anything that you are not happy with in your own discussion and you can close it to replies at any time. Angus can do the same.

Gillian don't mention the "H" word!
Permalink Reply by Patrick O'Kane on February 4, 2012 at 18:34 The OP of a discussion can close it off for replies if they so choose. Gus can do the same I believe.
Permalink Reply by Andrew on February 4, 2012 at 18:39 Strewth! Now I know who the person (singular) is that actually reads those things.
...and you made me read it! Re point 3 - addendum - marine creature pics are tolerated.
