What is Audax?
Audax Australia Cycling Club is a non profit national cycling organisation specialising in non-competitive long distance bicycle rides from 50 to 1200 km, called "randonnees". The challenge of Audax is not in racing, but in pushing your own boundaries and experiencing great personal achievements. Audax enables riders of any ability to set and achieve riding goals with a group of like minded cyclists. This spirit of achievement is what attracts so many riders to Audax.
As the time limits required to complete events are generous, Audax appeals to a wide variety of cyclists, whether they are from a touring, racing, recreational or commuting background. All riders on Audax events are issued with and must carry a 'brevet' card. This card acts as a type of passport that riders must have stamped at checkpoints or controls as a demonstration that the ride has been completed within the time limits.

Where in Gawler is the start?
Would activities at the start be interesting for spectators or the curious?
The start is at the Willaston Scout Hall on Holmes Street. All rides commence at 7am sharp.
Activities at the start? Normally there are no spectators at the start of Audax rides, generally just the riders. But indeed would be interesting
I won't be riding but I might see if some of us Gawler Wheelers can be there at 7 am Saturday to see off the riders.
I was considering this but their ride recommendations suggest you need to be able to ride a lot faster than I can.
With the 7AM start for this and the 7:10 am start for the briefing at the GW ride makes things a bit tight
No I meant that Gawler Wheelers suggest that you are fit enough to ride at an average speed of 25 to 30 km/Hr I am certain I couldn't average at least 25 k for 2 + hours.
I have scratched my head and thought with preparation that 200Km in about 11 hours riding with a few stops should be achievable.
But would my bottom ever forgive me?
The weather looks good.
I hope the participants have an enjoyable and trouble free event.
