I've noticed that Michelle's rear tyre has a couple of bulges in it when she hopped on the trainer tonight - I'm talking about something that's about 3-4mm high and stretches for about 40-50mm around the tyre. Not something you really notice when looking at it, but you can feel it when you're on the trainer.

Does anyone know what might be causing it? I thought it might be a twisted tube or the tyre wearing out, but the wear markers have a fair bit left on them and I don't think the tube is twisted although I will check it.

Had the same problem - I assume it has to do with the trainer heating up the tyres too much

It may be a poorly done join in the tire.

If you had not mentioned Michelle was on the bike my very technical answer to the heading was going to be "Fat Blokes" but now it isn't..

@Jeremy, have you seen Phil? Even his face is "Aerodynamic" :-)

Most likely heat, and if going on the road ditch the tyre as it is now weakened.

It was the speed she went up Lofty on Saturday, then it froze in the off round position in the minus 15 deg temperatures we endured :-)

is the tyre seated properly ? , it just be slightly sitting out of the bead

should I say all this was covered in the tires and tubes workshop but nobody was interested then.

The thing was it was fine until tonight so maybe something has happened on Saturday...

And it was before I had even started the workout...

Indoor trainers are notorious for chewing up and deforming tyres, you can buy trainer specific tyres

indeed - save the contis for t&f

Same problem here. Never had this problem with the old rim but when I changed to a new rim using the same tyre the slight bulge appeared..Not easy to see but can be felt when riding.Been this way for about 2 months+ now but I haven't had a puncture to actually take the tyre off. Should I try removing the tyre and re-seat it ?
