Its very rare to know a cyclists actual bodyweight on race day. There is some obvious reasons for that according to Lemond. ;)

What about a tour when it is a free for all and you can take all the drugs you want?

Wasn't that the mid 90-00's??

Not as stupid as it seems...at least then we'd be back to a level playing field if every rider is taking drugs.

Perhaps another answer would be a very complex handicapping system based on what drugs you are on, how much money your sponsors are sinking into your team, whether or not you're running Campy, how gawky your team colours are....etc.

next thing you will suggest a standard class of bike.

such as a CrMo frames and a good but basic group set.

this would put bike racing within reach of a lot more people.

It is even possible the fittest and best bike rider would consistently do well.

would people then stop buying ultra expensive featherweight bikes?

Didn't they do that for formula one? Standardize equipment at a level affordable for less advantaged teams...

Standardised equipment is used for some classes of yachting in the Olympics.  Why not standardised equipment for rowers, cyclists etc., with the actual setup done by/for the athletes from acommon stock of parts.  Then we get to see who the best athletes are (allowing for drug use!), instead of the best combination of money, equipment and athlete.

Don't like that system. Lampre would win everything based on their jersey design.

We already have that in pro sports. Its take all you want but if you get busted we will call you a cheat and pretend all the other swimmers, runners, footy players, cyclists, gymnasts etc are clean.

Faster ,further , stronger & hairier than ever before !!  8~)

There is another thread on AC going in the same direction as this one simultaneously ,, I seem to be repeating myself ..
