We met, we rode, we ate, drank, slept and rode back. We had a hoot!
Weather was perfect, tailwind on the way home.
Thanks to an awesome bunch of blokes to ride with and support crew to boot.
Till the same time next year...........!

After a few coffees we regrouped just outside of Gawler and after a small rider brief we split into two groups, fast'ish and a bit slower. When looking at the the elevation the ride is basically 85% uphill, very slight, almost invisible at points but still up. I did the ride with a 4hr 45min ride time and an overall time in the order of close to 7hrs, long time in the saddle. Once in Clare we all got sorted with accommodation and washed off the days effort, a very short time after that a couple of beers attempted to touch the sides but they didn't. For dinner, pizza's, pasta, and anything that represented carb loading was consumed. For me bed time happened soon after and I watched THE CROWS BEATING SYDNEY (looks at Scott)
Day 2 greeted us all with what all cyclists wish for, tailwinds. We gathered at an interesting Clare locally known as "Subway" and proceeded to have breakfast and crap coffee. At 8.48 we departed for Adelaide. I don't think I have ever ridden so fast for so long and still able to walk afterward. The ride back was simply stunning, Clare to Auburn, Auburn to Tarlee, Tarlee to Gawler, these three segments were brilliant. Gawler to Adelaide was good but the SOB took us into the wind for a bit but turning south onto Pt Wakefield Rd we hit hyper-drive. Unfortunately this is where I received my first puncture and what a puncture it was, scared the crap out me at 48+ km/h. With the help of Framer, I repaired and strengthened the slashed tire and got back on the road. From there it was a "short" ride to Adelaide and our ride was done. All safe and accounted for, but I dip my hat to Sue G who was our driver and special rescue agent, without Sue the trip would have been very different, thankyou. I'm sure photo's will surface over the next few days, mine are as boring as bat crap.
Big thank you to AVO for putting this ride up and it's been the single biggest weekend of riding for me ever.

Thanks to AVO for putting on another great Clare weekend and for encouraging 'team spirit' and well done to everyone who rode. I had a great time being support crew, a lot of fun & thanks all for chipping in and having me along. Lets hope we have similar weather next year :-)
