what was it like?
I think if you want something better than asking Goggle you will probably need to see someone.

Watch the Tour DVDs, sing that Queen song whenever you can and gently spin on the trainer to whatever extent you've been told you can. The muscle will heal in time and you've go the whole AC family here still.

I have finally recovered from torn muscles. Firslty in my backside ( one of the glutimus muscles I think - maybe glutimous maximous) and somewhow the pain progressed into the hamstring. So whether that was damged at the same time, or was damaged after the glutimus, not sure.
It happened on the second weekend of the Fringe Festival, quite a few weeks ago. I took off from a walking start on Rundle Mall, late Friday night, running to keep up with a young mob of kids on skate boards. Feeling good after returning to road cycling after many years, and getting fitter from a couple of long rides in the country. All went well for about 20 metres, and then it felt like someone had stabbed me in the right buttock. Could hardly walk, let alone run! So I think it was a glutimus muscle. So watch out, cycling can be harmful to your health!
I didn't go to the doctor. Just put up with it. Continued cycling. Somewhow the pain spread down to the back of the thigh - hamstring? Maybe what they call referred pain. Not sure. Was very painful to sit and drive. Had to drive to Melbourne and back one weekend. Excruciating! But was not so bad riding the bike. Gradually the pain went away, until now I would say it is about 98% healed.
So my 'recovery' regme was bike riding. And I was not taking any pity on it either. But I am no medical expert. Just letting you know my experience. Healed in about 10 weeks. Probably best to see the experts.
