Thanks John, that was really what I was after in regards to people's experience in getting the strength back, yours was a good insight.

Have seen the experts and taken their advice just wanted to canvas thoughts that is all
The important part of your question Reidy is " AFTER MY HAMMY HAS RECOVERED". You will need at least a few weeks rest, depending on severity of tear. From bitter experience, take your time, because go too hard too early and tear it again and takes much longer and probably will leave more scar tissue. Do it wisely and you should make pretty well a full recovery.
How did you do it ? I assume you did not do it riding a bike.

anks Barry, yes well i train my son's U7's soccer team and was on the field with them at training and one of the young fella's was out running me to the ball so not as young as i use to be i'm afraid

Did my hammy. Grade 2 tear. bruising and bleeding down the leg. Iced it for 48 hrs solid post injury (crucial).

Then hit it with the heat. Once bruising goes, get to the massage therapist for a deep tissue rub.

Some oils (can't remember) help a bucket load. Post bruising start gentle stretches. Your enemy is

scar tissue build up. Riding help keeps it moving. Always stretch after ride. Move it or lose it!

Don't participate in 'other sports'. Riding and running with no stretching = fail.

Thanks Scott appreciate your input
