what type of brake pads would they use?

Yellow Swiss stop apparently!

I have a couple of sets of tubular rims on order for 2 vintage track bikes. One already has original cane rims but the front is a little out of shape due to storage.  The other set will be built into a set of vintage Prior high flange hubs for another project.  Wooden rims (cane) were quite common up to 50's and I even raced on a set bought from Giramondo's in Melbourne in the 60's.

Gary, I've seen wooden rims but I never raced on them....you must be pretty old. :)

They were mine you saw Jeff. I remember riding around Hanson Reserve as a kid  and you were watching while leaning on your walking stick   :)

cruel....
