The significant but subtle effect of a bit of paint and effort
Interesting to note how the path of vehicles is influenced by a bit of effort by the local council.
Pity that there is nobody interested in penalising the five (5) cars that were parked in the 24 hour bike lane in just the section between Goodwood Road and the Glen Osmond Rd intersection and the three (3) that were parked in the active bike lane on Sturt Rd between Morphett Rd and Brighton Rd after 4:30 this arvo !

Mike, to discourage vehicles parked in bicycle lanes, you need to put in some of your effort. Stop and phone the local council. Or stop and take full details of the vehicles, location, time, etc., then hand in your typed report to the police. This has decreased parking in the peak hour bicycle lane on Prospect Road but has not stopped it.

I have done that Heather, called SAPOL when a character in his new dual cab (with the stainless steel roll bars ) decided that he was not happy about me going around two vehicles both that were in an active bike lane after 4:30.
A patrol car was there within 5 minutes and booked those two and another that had just pulled up while the police car was there and the driver just went into the kindy (that had ample off street parking) !!
I don't actually like to see people getting fined, I just wish they would respect the rules without being forced to comply.

Mike, you may not like people being fined but balance against not liking cyclists being put at risk when drivers breach ARR. Hip pocket education appears to be the most effective. Please phone the local councils as well and ask if they can patrol the areas for a while.

It wouldn't take much to get a massive improvement Don, just a bit of effort, some paint and about 5 meters of vibraline on the lead in to any corner would result in a massive improvement/awareness.
We just need the individual responsible authorities to just go that little bit further for a signicant improvement.Well done ACC.

I was riding near Glynde the other week (I think it was Glynbyrn Rd) when I noticed that an auto parts dealer had an A Frame on the kerb, "parking here is illegal due to bike lane please use car park at rear" or words to that effect, I thought it was a really good idea that many businesses could adopt if only to protect their clientele. Please excuse spelling mistakes, it's been a long day.

Mike, got an ironic laugh from me.
Illegal parking in the Prospect Road peak hour bicycle lane outside Coles at number 140 WAS high when I asked the sub-manager (could not get to speak to the manager) if they would put a sign on the double glass doors to save their customers from fines (and help cyclists). Never happened.
