I had a great ride today on some new roads that i have been meaning to tick off. Didn't feel like going for a ride but sucked it up, grabbed a servo coffee a bit after six and then hit the dirt through sheppards hill and out to Clarendon on the road. Came back via the dirt and a couple of back lanes.

It got me thinking are there roads out there that people are wanting to hit up and havent yet?

Have you found a little number that you want to share?

Couple of picks from today. This is the top of mundoo lane off of Illunga drive in Scott Creek/Cherry Gardens. The photo doesnt show it but it was a really steep decent. Unfortunately i missed the lefthand turn onto the Tom Roberts trail which was near the top of the hill so it was a hike back up.

Garmin called this a road

Not a bad course profile

I think we need to get you to plan next year' H'eroica ride. There are some amazing rides on roads that you'd think would be 100s of km from Adelaide's Cbd but they're only 15 or so.

The reason Adam and I did H'eroica was to show off a few of these roads that could be covered in a morning's ride with a good end of ride venue for a get together.

Join us on Sept 16 ( see events) but there would be no reason to do another longer ride. I wouldn't want to ride mid summer though.

Thanks for sharing and pics. Have you got the route mapped?

its mapped out - garmin.strava etc. Happy to help out with the H'eroica. Im working on a loop through the hills taking in as many dirt road as possible. Might even label them sector 1 etc and grade them 1 through to 5 star.

My kind of ride!

My cup-a-tea too :)

I'd love to see a collection of dirt-road routes that could be tackled on a cross bike or MTB.

All the routes  i have planned out are CX compatible. Even done a fair few on the roadie.

No. 1 on my list to do is not real close handy - Mt Alma Rd up on to the Devil's Backbone.  The road starts from Glacier Rock on the Inman Valley Rd, then down on to Hindmarsh Valley Rd - so for me it will be a big day in more ways than one.

Climbing up Ti Tree Rd through Bull Creek Range is pretty good (pictured) - a couple of other good ones down that way too.

More locally, I rarely see any other bikes on Sprigg Rd, just over the back of Lofty in Picadilly Valley.  A lovely little lane, then an unsealed winding climb among the bush and trees on the back of Mt Bonython.

Like the roads around Bull Creek. have friends that live that way so we have hit them up on the MTBs and even horse back. I am slowly brewing up a ride to Victor with a mix of on road and off road so a detour to hit up Mt Alma Rd could be on the cards.

Yep love Sprigg. I like to make that my last dirt hit out before hitting the high point of the Adelaide hills and then roll home. Have done it on the roadie no probs.

If you like Sprigg you might like Old road. Comes off of the road up to marble hill

Manoah drive of Sturt Valley is a favorite. Hit it up on the roadie fairly regularly.

The bitumen on Manoah Drive, between the gate of the Manoah property and Upper Sturt Rd has almost ruined it - for bikes.  And that spoon drain is something shocking.

Yep to them both.  I've been down and up Old Rd, and a recent convert to Manoah Drive after riding past it for some time.  Just across Sturt Valley is another favourite - Evans Drive.

And further along Scott Creek Rd, Brown Rd is a good little linking road (no picture).

Brown and Evans are good. The crater on Evans is where  I exploded on a Strada CX ride not long ago. if that is you area hit up Star and Arrow, Nicholls, as well. have done them all in one ride - twas a good lap,

Blimey look what Ive been missing out on all these years! I'll have to spend a bit of time on google maps finding all these roads. Please keep the suggestions coming!
