What do other people avoid during the weekend of bogan?

Share your tips...

I avoid commuting at night during Clipsal weekend because there seems to be more show ponies out revving their engines and attempting things that most regard as stupid and endangering the lives of others. I generally avoid going to the fringe during this weekend too because the drunk tools that rock up after the racing are annoying at best.

But did they burn their bits on the exhaust pipe?

Does it seem a conflict of interest for the government to promote road safety and then support car racing?

No.

Road safety and racing on a closed circuit are not related.

No different to them supporting the TDU.

It does encourage those interested in the sport to drive like they are on a race circuit though. But obviously the government can't control that.

I think our petrol friends would argue that TDU encourages plenty of lycra types to pretend they are racers as well.

Agree @Dstone

And I would argue a speeding metal cage does far more damage (in many respects) than a carbon frame doing less than half the speed.

Compare apples with apples.

There are plenty of Fringe venues that are at the opposite end of the city from the East Parklands. If you want to see some Fringe shows, head to the West End, head to Queen's Theatre, head to North Adelaide, head to Angus Street, head to Holden Street in Hindmarsh.

There's more to the Fringe than just The Garden of Unearthly Delights.

I know but the things we want to see were on at the Garden this weekend.

So ride your bike in or catch the bus and go, the clipsal shouldn't affect your fringe going

I hear that - went the the Garden to see a few shows and couldn't wait to flee the crowds and vibe there. The Tuxedo Cat on North Terrace is a cool, funky venue and host to some good shows - In Search of Atlantis is my current favourite. The Holden St. Theater is good too, with shows they curated from the Edinburgh Fringe. We've seen His Ghostly Heart and The Terrible Infants - both top shelf.

It has been documented that more hoon driving and speeding around the time of car racing in Adelaide. A friend who worked in the Rape Crisis Centre said also more rapes (groups of drunk young males?). So I avoid cycling alone at night when car racing on.

i dont change anything really except I cant go across vic park for a few days. The majority of my commute is not on main roads as well.
