I am starting to think about putting together a group ride event during the Tour Down Under, stage 3 on Thursday looking like a good one, plenty of viewing with 6 laps around Aldgate, Stirling and Mylor plus KOM at Eagle on the Hill. Just wanting to gauge interest early on, if enough is shown will move forward and start organizing. Let me know your thoughts.

Sounds like a good idea to me. I'd be up for it.
Be keen if get the time off of work

Rapha hosted rides each day of the TDU this year starting from Red Berry Espresso in Glenside & heading off for a couple of hours before finding a viewing point for the stage. From memory they went to Harvest cafe in Mylor to watch the corresponding stage, which was one of the corner points of the loop around Stirling.

Stirling has to be one of the best Loops, I managed to do one loop last year. Plenty of viewing spots, Weather you want them fast slow or see fair bit. From what i remember i met up with ppls in the town village just below Stirling. But im told that the CFS station where they come down the hills is good viewing. For many of reasons. I'm interested in riding up as part of my training for the BUPA

Yes, sounds good. Last year we had a big group ride out to Lobethal then over to Aldgate hosted by Pro-cycling Tours. It was a free ride and they provided drinks and a support car. I think there was about 50. No doubt there will be something like it again this year but as they as an official TDU tour company I'm not sure if they will be hosting a free one.

Book it in and closer to the time the details can be clearer.

I took part in that one last year, Gus. It was a fantastic day & is what has given me some inspiration for this year. Hopefully with enough interest shown I can rope in some volunteers for support and make a day of it.

looking forward to that ride again

There has been talk of a Muddies\SSRC contingent organising a ride for this day as well.

Will be interesting is Pro-Cycling Tours organise something again - was a great day out with them last time

Here's the details from this year's Rapha rides

I'm thinking of driving to Tanunda and leaving my car there for the BUPA ride next day. I'll be happy to catch up with the group somewhere, even if it's only for coffee in Stirling.

I'd be interested if work commitments allow..

I suggest you pencil in coffee at my place on each lap of the Stirling circuit.....I'm on the main street. The only downside is the cat 1 climb up the driveway.
