Looks like some early info is out about the TDU Challenge Ride for 2011...

Short at 135 km for the long course but there is a sting in the tail...Checker Hill.  I think it is an 18% climb.  Never done it myself but have heard that is tough.

Looks like there are some other climbs along the way.  Finish is at Strath.

5kph should be easy enough to maintain, with 100 people walking their bikes in front of you! Going to be chaos...
what does 'un-doped' mean?
It is an issue which has arisen recently with professional riders accused of "doping" their bike by having a small battery powered motor hidden in the frame. Check out http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/othersports/cycling/7798626/Fabian...
oh mi !!! Well i *could* do with one of those on my bike, but where's the fun in that hey! I guess pro cyclists dont do it for the fun as much as the $
mmmm. Gumeracha start looks appealing, miss that hill, or lose half my body weight, or just get out there and start training.
ohhh I love it - tick off one of the many hard hills :) short ride this one 130+kms
Mmmm Love the hills. This where I can get back at all the 'nancy boy' commments I get for having a triple chain ring :-)
Seems you'll either have to be first out of the blocks or at the back to avoid the chaos of a hundred cyclists all falling clipped into their pedals at the same time halfway up...
Been there. Done that. Hoping to not have a repeat performance.

Surely those who nominate for the full ride would be taking that into account? Or am I just too much of a noob and have so many good ppl looking out for my well being?
Right... so 6 months to practice.
The SAG wagons and CycleWorx crew who were helping out and doing an amazing job were also getting abused for lack of water, & it had nothing to do with them!
My Felt has a triple Peter, I am thinking that this will be the bike I use for the recce and the official ride. I'll be right there with you in the granny gear, but we'll be pedalling all the way to the top, no walking bro!

Jim, no-one can bloody keep up with you in the hills to see what gearing you are using! Ben normally comes in for coffees after the CVSA Rides, but I think you broke him last week!
I've ridden it both ways. The back way (heading West) is OK. Straight up the front (heading East, obviously) is tough. Like others here I'm happy I have a triple chain ring on the front as the last little bit is very steep. The upside is that it is a fun ride down the back to Forreston.
