I watched the prologue last night, or most of it in between snoozes. Average speeds on 50kph, I haven't managed that on the Veloway descent with a tailwind. These blokes are freaks. The TV coverage doesn't do it justice, they didn't look that fast. Awesome.

Permalink Reply by rossmg on July 1, 2012 at 13:56 Yep, bloody amazing stuff really. I can just crack 60 heading down The Parade with a little tail wind. The course they were riding seemed to have some gentle uphill sections - that's gotta hurt!
Adding to the effect of the big gearing, most will be using 177.5 mm or bigger cranks.
