I was reading a cycling magazine at the hairdresser last night. There was a short article stating how cyclists wear their sunglasses. It said that they should be worn on the outside of the straps. Is this correct and if so, why?? (I always slide mine inside my helmet straps).

My Sunglass sponsor hasn't complained yet!

Me, I thinks it's a pain because I forget to take off the glasses before removing the helmet and so flick the glasses halfway across the road.

Done that trick.  Very annoying.

Outside. I read somewhere once about it being a safety thing, though at the time I couldnt understand why/how

Always outside. If you put the arms of your sunnies under your helmet straps, you are possibly compromising the fit of your helmet.

I always wear mine outside/over... I imagine it's different for everyone, depends what you're used to.. I doubt there's any valid reason for doing it either way... I imagine though that if your helmet straps are tightened correctly then it would be slightly unconfortable with the glasses wedged between the (tight) strap and your face...? I'm only guessing though as I don't do it!

Outback riding on dirt - inside - otherwise they rattle off.
Sort of related did anyone else read the back page column of Bicycle Aust this issue about how the author say a guy riding along on his new bike, new kit etc (I think it was just after Xmas) and was wearing his new knicks but with the chamois on the outside!

Yeah - sorry that was me.

I was also facing the wrong way and was sitting on my helmet.  We've got to start somewhere though...right?

The arms on mine reach the cradle on the back of the helmet and sit outside that, so I've always put them over the straps as well...
These days most of the riding I do is before the sun comes up, so my sunglasses are on the back of my head (with arms outside the helmet straps)!

That says it all. There does not have be a reason, it's just the way it is.

Although I believe that it's more comfortable and elegant and also stops the straps flapping about in the wind.

Was just about to link to that same page now that i'm home and can get to the bookmark

Thank's saves me doing it.
