Had a cynical laugh to myself on the way into work this morning. As i was riding through the park near South Tce in the city i passed a lady riding a hybrid with a wicker basket on the front. As i approached her i noticed she wasnt wearing a helmet (not overly strange) but as i passed her i saw she had it sitting in the basked on the front of her bike! As i rode away with a strange sort of despair i was stopped a red light on south tce at the end of the bike path. i was there for a minute or two and saw her approaching the intersection, she proceed to take the helmet out (while still riding) and put it on here head! i just sat there stunned and to add to it she just rode straight across the pedestrian crossing when the lights turned orange (she had PLENTY of time to stop and didnt check for any turning cars).

i am continually dumbfounded and saddened by a lot of the stuff i see while i am out riding.

What stupid things have you seen?

Stupid stuff you see on a bike - ME!

:)

you'd have to be tryin pretty darned hard to look more stupid than me!!

My 4yo says I look like spiderman when I get kitted up to commute on these cold winter mornings! Full length bright red and blue lycra to aid visibility (plus the binking light show) sure gets me some giggles and shakes of the head from sarcy motorists in their heated vehicles.

Heating up the planet vehicles...

The kid's just smarting because you bought yourself a nice set of red and blue lycra for Christmas and he only got an entry level Leggo set.

Kid got a new bike for Christmas! He just wishes he could ride it wearing his batman costume, but we wont let him cos of the cape!!

One of the guys at work sent me this one from a Russian Website, a cyclist slipstreaming a truck at 90km/h. Takes a few seconds to load up.

He doesn't seem to be wearing a helmet…

Mind you, he'd probably need to be wearing motorcycle kit to have any chance if he lost it.

I was driving down Torrens Rd other day and saw a guy riding one-handed on a bike with a very long (12') fishing rod (and no warning flag) in his other hand.  He looked like a jousting knight!  Pretty dangerous and bit unusual.

I met someone at a community group who was about to cycle home up the Adelaide Hills, carrying lengths of timber. He was slow to accept my offer to drive him home.

He was right to be slow to accept.  He should not have. It is not safe to accept a ride with a stranger...

LOL…

Stupid cyclist - Me.

Riding down to Glenelg, going around a roundabout by Glenelg North and become distracted by RC Speedboat in lake - look ahead to see me heading for gutter. went ass over tit and head first into ...

Grass - luckily!
Bike is OK - I will be sporting a nice top tube bruise on my shin tomorrow, but kept going to complete the seacliff-outer harbour loop,

Lol - thanks to the two guys who stopped to make sure I was Ok. Only my ego bruised more so than anything else... was making quite good pace until then too. haha.
