hey guys, my bike has been stolen from Grote street (infront of central markets, near the Coles) tonight between the hours of 18:00 and 12:00.
It's the bike in my picture
FELT F95
Black Aerospoke wheels front and back
If anyone sees this bike please call the police.
I'm really upset as you could imagine

I'll keep an eye out around town, the wheel are very distinct. Sad about the dead fairy too.

also if you see it please call the police, they will have the bike on their record as stolen
See if you can also alert police and cyclists in Victoria as I've heard that is where a lot of stolen bikes are taken to!
Permalink Reply by Richard Stevens on October 8, 2011 at 16:48 I once seen a guy put an ad on ebay with a photo of his stolen bike stating it was stolen. I don't recall whether he listed it as an auction or buy it now but as long as you make it pretty clear that you're trying to locate it's a good way to get the info out to a lot of people at little cost. Not sure if Ebay like it being done but the worse they can do is pull the auction but by the time that's happened I'm sure you would have had a lot of hits.
Good luck on your search mate. If you have top cover home insurance it's likely you can make a claim on it.
Permalink Reply by Jon DeHuge on October 9, 2011 at 18:49 thanks richard, i'd put one on ebay but i don't know how... i put up posters today offering a 200 dollar no questions asked reward in some busy areas
i've got an ad on gumtree now

Very similar bike on Gum Tree, think the Areospoke wheels stood out.
Permalink Reply by Jon DeHuge on October 18, 2011 at 17:47 thanks for your reply mick, saw that one on gumtree as well, nearly fell off my chair, but even if they were my wheels, the ad was posted before my bike was stolen.. also 4k for that bike, really?
i'm still pretty upset about losing my bike, i need a cheap roadie, ITCHING for a ride... driving sucks :/p>
Permalink Reply by Jon DeHuge on May 19, 2012 at 8:23 Just a little update for everyone
My bike/wheel set was never found
The wheels however, were posted on gumtree a couple of months later.
I managed to:
Track down CCTV footage of the guy taking the bike
Get his mobile number (via gumtree)
Get his address
First name
However that wasn't enough for the police to get a warrant, the wheels had probably been gone anyway
he sold the set of wheels for 250 dollars....
I can't believe that this idiot got away with the crime. I'm really disgusted and still depressed about losing my bike. The police were actually shameless enough to ring me and ask if i was happy with their investigation, when i told them no, the lady on the phone argued with me.
Hang on- you rang me to ask me for an opinion, and now you argue with me?
Fantastic world we live in.

Permalink Reply by Don (Who's lost?) Nairn on May 19, 2012 at 9:20 If you are after a scruffy bike to ride to the shops come and see us at the bike workshop.
So you do some invistigastion and all the police have to do is visit a certain adress but they don't and they wonder how come you are not happy.
I wonder how much other stolen stuff he has?
Permalink Reply by heather on May 19, 2012 at 13:18 Jon, I suggest that you contact the
Police Complaints Authority
50 Grenfell Street, Adelaide SA 5000
GPO Box 464, Adelaide SA 5001
Phone (08) 8226 8677
Point out that you assisted the police but they declined to take action. Your bike was not cheap and thefts like that are lucrative for the thief when police do not act. That a search warrant might locate other stolen property at that address, and clear up several reports.
If you phone first, follow up in writing as proof of your complaint.
Let us know the outcome.
