St Andrews Ride n Stride ..
A great event was held this am but the numbers were disappointing. Company was good with a gourmet BBQ at the finish and the offer of a coldie or a drop of fine SA wines to wash it down. There was a choice of 30 and 72 km rides but is the 70 km lacking the distance for some riders.What went wrong the turn out in numbers? . . With the discussion around our table it may may been said that there wasn't enough advertising the event? I only remember seeing it on AC website last year. Did Mad March have anything to do with it? There is now talk of moving it to may November instead for the traditional March due to the lack of numbers . Would November be any different?
The cost was reasonable I thought and I ended up increasing my average speed by 3 km/hr on the day.

First I've hard of this ride, although I have seen St Andrew's jerseys in the past. Time for a new publicity offer perhaps?

I have heard of this ride but no detail, didn't know it was on today, don't know the cost. Having said that, apart from Mad March some people are paying memberships for racing, then theres the fee's for Grand Slam and the Velo Ride and some may have only just paid off the plastic card for AMY's, BUPA RLC Bike SA membership etc. This cycling Biz can get expensive if you go in everything. Having said that maybe November would work as it's after the Grand Slam series and some people start training for the next BUPA

Great hospital but some of the nurses have inappropriate names......... I got checked in by an RN with the surname "Slaughter".

Is November a good time? A lot of people are winding up for Christmas then. I like April, but then you have Easter around then... maybe October? Weather is starting to get warmer then.
I had a good day, the included bbq and drinks is great :o) Chris said he had a ball. He suggested it should have been posted as an event on Adelaide Cyclists... we will suggest it to Gabrielle.
