I heard this morning through the grapevine that two cyclists were involved in an incident near Whyalla recently. Unfortunately it sounds like one has lost their life and the other is badly injured. I don't know many more details, but from what I've heard this hasn't been in the news so I thought I'd let you guys know about it incase you have friends or family that ride in the area.

I hope everybody has a good easter and most of all that we are all safe.

Terrible news, we'll wait for some confirmation.

Stay safe everyone this Easter.

+1 Please stay safe this weekend guys. There are some real nut jobs out there.

Hey Gus....yes very sad news....

Here is the news I received from Paul Waring...

Please keep Hayden Gill in your prayers and thoughts as he fights the ride of his life. As many people know Hayden (Gill) and Graham (Fritz) Fargher were hit by a car on the Iron Knob road this morning. Hayden is currently in Flinders Medical centre in an induced coma. His prognoses is not good as he has a couple of bleeds on the brain, besides other injuries. His family is with him and he needs all our prayers and thoughts to help him win this race. Hayden is a fighter so please come through H. Hayden is a true gentlman.   Fritz, who is currently in Whaylla hospital should be released tomorrow. He apprently has a cracked pelvis and I wish him also well for a speedy recovery. Fritz is also another true gentlman of the Whyalla Cycling Club. Via Ronald Versteegh

Thanks Rob

I googled but did not find a media story. Found a cycling club at http://www.whyallacc.org.au but would not like to contact them. Found yearly Road Safety Progress Reports from DTEI / DPTI, stating approximately __ cyclists killed, and __ cyclists injured.

This was on twitter yesterday

Sadly, about the right spot as Virginia's report

That sounds about right. My parents told me about it this morning (they have a farm south of Whyalla) as they had heard the news from some of the truck drivers they work with. Sad news all around.

Oh god. Not good. I hope they both recover. Everyone please stay safe this easter.

I was at the Whyalla airport yesterday and unknowingly watched Hayden being loaded into the Rescue Helicopter. My thoughts are with him, his family and Graham.
