This one has kinda snuck up on us... GS3 heads out from Yankalilla this weekend.  Weather looks pretty bleak character building, as does the 120km route.  Who's in this weekend?  Any special preparation for what looks like a wild one!

Looks like it might be an exercise in HTFU, wind could be a bit savage!

Me. I rode part of the second loop a few weeks ago and it's not exactly what I'd call flat - wind was an issue as well.

@ phil you can get tablets for that ( wind) !

+1.

Planning on doing the first 60k loop. Nettle Hill looks like fun.

character building.....Im borrowing Shav's Antarctic gear.

Doing the first lap....see how wet cold and miserable I am after that before deciding on the second.

Bring some extra brake blocks for the decent into Yank!

Noted BikeSA's warning about the descent into Yank...particularly if its wet!

Hoping to do both loops, subject to weather and if I sleep in too much... maybe loop 2 then?

Ill be there and I´m planning to detour up Mt Alma. Ive ridden up Nettle Hill around 5 times and its a toughie. Dont forget to look right and down to the view over Victor Harbour. The first time I went up there I was staring at the road and at the end someone asked if I enjoyed the view and all I could say is ¨what view¨.  The other major hill is the climb up to Parawa. All in all it should be a good ride and hopefully the showers stay away. Look forward to seeing you all there.

I'll be in Yank on Friday so hoping to try Parawa Rd on fresh legs.  Could be tough into that headwind!  Compared to Parawa, Nettle Hill didn't look that tough on the elevation chart but Strava suggests otherwise!

Nettle Hill: http://app.strava.com/segments/802253

Parawa Rd: http://app.strava.com/segments/713742 (although the GS3 route takes the shorter, more direct route up)

Coming from Sawpit Rd you're going to miss the first ramp of Nettle Hill Rd :)
