Ive just got into all this fast/group riding and am really enjoying it. I have discovered that my mbl phone as the 'Sports Tracker' program which records GPS data etc. And i have been uploading it to Everytrail.com - however im not too impressed with this site as it had me doing 130kph on the ASCENT of Eagle on the Hill in Sunday's CVSA ride  (those of you who were there know i wasnt reaching double figuers - let alone triple!)

So what sites do you use ? Are there any Aussie based one? cycling only ones? and what type of file should i export the trip as? (GPX/XML/CSV?)

Hi Lee-Anne,

Nokia Sports Tracker is a very good application and it has just come out of 'beta' and my new Nokia has a new version of the software that includes heart rate monitor integration. Putting it up against a dedicated Garmin cycle computer it holds up pretty well for a freebie but that's on my new phone. My old phone, the Nokia 6110 Navigator, started losing it's mojo and when it loses lock it can show corruptions.

An alternative is Endomondo which pitches itself as a competitor to Nokia but while it is automatic in the uploading and looks good it doesn't have the shine of Sports Tracker.

Other options are to record your GPS and export it as a GPX (sort of a generic GPS data file) and import it into Map My Ride or Bikely.com.

There is also Runkeeper.com if you have an iPhone or Android device.

Finally Nick Hortovanyi wrote a great blog piece about using GPS last week.
I kept track for a while, when Sports Tracker worked well, it really worked but, but when it failed!

Check this one out as a #fail. http://sportstracker.nokia.com/nts/workoutdetail/index.do?id=1879119
WOW Mark - that really is some dodgy gps data!!!
LOL - classic and good to keep for a laugh
I actually sent it to Scott Sunderland from Team Sky letting him know I was available to sign on. Obviously their loss, as they did not sign me, as I am yet to see their current sprinters hit 2,000km/h!
There is an Australian who is developing a mapping site at http://www.mytrails.com.au

He got feedback from people on Sydney Cyclist (http://www.sydneycyclist.com/forum/topics/new-bike-trails-site) and seems quite responsive to trying to make it a good site for users.
I Use Map your ride, on my partners Iphone at times, but map all my rides.\
I was using RideWithGPS.com but its hard to use 2, so i went back o using one.

Good to use the Iphone on Bike paths as some mapping will only detect the roads, and take a long time to remap.

Hi Lee-Anne
I have SportyPal on my Blackberry. It is also supported by many other phones.
I have seen the figures it produces after my rides, but I haven't yet loaded the info onto the website.
But it was very highly recommended to me.
