I would like to get away with other half later this year whilst the in laws are here to mind the kids just to get a bit of r&r

So thinking of cycling around Clare or the Barossa for a day and stay in a nice b&b somewhere. Happy to do fair bit of cycling on the day but trying to make it as relaxing as possible so nice country route with nice pub lunch etc..

Anyone have any suggestions??

The Riesling Trail at Clare seems to be well set up, with many B&Bs backing onto the trail as well as lots of yummy Wineries. Have never done it though, but want to. Get the Shorts SA book.

Oh yeah forgot about the shorts book :-)

Well if the outlaws are coming I could give you details of a nice place in Cape Leeuwin.

Other than that - yep SA Shorts.

Matt, we are already going away with them and the kids whilst they are here but we just wanted a night to ourselves somewhere :-)

Clare, cant go past it really. Great places to stay and the Reisling trail.

Barossa ? well you can go past that , on the way to Clare :)

+1 for the Riesling Trail in Clare. If you finish that then there are plenty of quiet roads to ride around.

Forget about road bikes, lycra and Strava and just ride for the fun of it, stop at the wineries and admire the scenery at 15km/h.

Middleton Beach huts are good if you prefer the coast, great restaurant on site, ride to goolwa or victor. Well designed, reasonable prices.

Having said that I am looking to take the other half to Clare as that does sound very well set up, good online maps of the paths showing accommodation and wineries, pubs etc

Wanted to go up there as living down South we already have the beaches etc..

Thanks Blake :-)

Tanunda and Angaston and the Barossa.

Lots of cycling there, plenty of food and wine (try the Eden vally shop in Angaston) and dining (book a table at ferment-asia). go for a short walk around Kaiser Sthul Conservation Park.

suss out with Trip Adviser for somewhere to stay.

Lucky other half, Phil must be disappointed.

I reckon as most are saying Clare is the business but after some glasses of local wine and a nice dinner cycling on Sunday might not be that appealing!

Check out the 'Where to Ride Adelaide' book

+1 on the Riesling trail. we stayed at a B&B called Quince Cottage which was located close to the track and close to some good wineries.

Thanks everyone will just have to see how my planning goes, would love to do it now but in laws don't here until October!
