Thanks to the magic of pulleys I finally have my Shimergo setup functioning well.

Running campy ergopower shifters with shimano derailleurs, yep it can be done

Yes it can, the problem usually lies in the width of the spacers of the rear cassette....Modolo made carbon shifters once that would would 7-9 speed and could be adjusted through a screw so it could handle shimano or campy.....

Im all for a project but may I ask why?

I always have done things after someone has told me it cant be done........especially when it comes to bikes :)

Im all for sticking it to the nay sayer!

Usually the nay sayer has been some mechanic in a bike shop (LOL)

It initially started as a cost exercise (ergo are approx 200 cheaper than decent shimano units) , then it turned into a exercise of sheer bloodymindness against everyone who said it couldn't be done

Good day Matt, a search on "Shimergo" brought me to your discussion.

I'm happy to see its a sucess and am curious what did you mean by "magic of pulleys" which sounds somewhat cryptic.

Can I know what your setup (ie L/R shifters, RD / FD, cassette, chain rings ) are and any pictures perhaps?

More info : I'm looking at replacing a broken LH Tiagra shifter and happen to have a spare Chorus 11 shifters lying around, of course it wouldn't make sense to replace the LH shifter with cablling under the bartape  and leaving the RH shifter with the washing line running out of it....

Thanks!

Hi Peter, My setup is

Campy Veloce 10 Speed Shifter L & R

Shimano Ultegra 6700 FD

Shimano Ultegra 6700 RD

Shimano 10 Speed Cassette

SRAM Apex 10 Speed Compact Cranks.

The key to making this all work was a "Shiftmate" Click Here

This is essential a reducer pulley system that converts the Campy cable pull amount to the right amount for a Shimano 10 speed.

This page is also a great resource Click here

It indicates that you may be able to get away with Campy 11 spd shifter on a 10 spd Shimano RD using the "Hubbub" mod, which is a slight re-route of the RD cable clamp.

The FD / Shifter combo worked fine as is, no changes needed.

Thanks very much Matt,

Just FYI

Shifters = Tiagra double 9speed L (broken)& R

FD = Tiagra

RD = Ultegra SL 6600 8/9/10 Speed Rear Derailleur Grey Medium Cage (configured as 9 now)

Cassette = Ultegra 9 speed

Cranks = Tiagra with Stronglight 51 / 38 chainrings

I've been pouring over the CTC link and am leaning towards taking the punt on the C11 shifters with S9 setup.

I hope the LBS knows more then I do!

Looks like it would work OK, hopefully your LBS is a little more flexible than the ones I tried to deal with. Most of the time the responses were less than friendly.

Just thought I'll add a (pre-)update., I sent the ctc link to my LBS and indicated I would be happy to pay them to attempt it on my behalf, and surprise! They didn't violently object.

I will be sending in my bike for the procedure after ANZAC and picking it up next week or so.

Will update, hopefully positively, after the operation.

Your well-wishes appreciated. :)

Been tweaking mine a little recently, its running a treat, even setup now with a triple frt cog and 10 speed rear.
