I am considering switching from my Shimano SPD SL pedals to Speedplays.
I have noticed that the Speedplay Zero pedals come in different materials, the chrome-moly, stainless steal and titanium. I can get the chrome-moly pedals for $140, would there be a huge difference if I got the stainless steel pedals for an extra $50? Anyone have previous experiences with Speedplay?
Also, how well do the cleats hold up? My Shimano ones I have at the moment are not that old but already rippped apart at places.
Thanks

They do however need constant TLC via a grease gun. No more work than looking after you chain though.

I am still on my original set of cleats after >5000km of riding. The pedals themselves receive grease every 6-8 weeks. It isn't hard to maintain them. The dual entry is worth it. And I also have stainless steel.
They are the most adjustable of all the systems with float and exit tension. They will fit pretty much any shoes that SPD's fit to.
