This is going too far. I don't think I've ever heard of cyclists pulling a similar act of sabotage on motorists.

A friend of mine saw a couple of road sweepers in the area at about 1pm.

As to why people would do something like this, I think it would be unlikely an angry motorist would do it.  I think it is exactly what someone suggested earlier; similar to an arsonist or a vandal who gets their jollies from watching other people suffering. I could write a whole thesis on this subject, but I think it just boils down to people feeling powerless and then feeling powerful watching people suffering at their hands.  I pity them.

These idiots only do it to get themselves into the media so they can brag to their equally idiotic friends, stop giving them the time of day & they will stop.

set up a race along there for people with the old fashioned solid rubber tyres, i want to see a penny-farthing sprint.

Surely a poor attempt at humour, Monday morning a few of the guys at work asked me if I'd found the presents they left for me on the road on Friday. Motorist/cyclist banter made by people with brains too small to understand the danger that prawn put so many people in.

Bet your workmates checked under their tyres before driving off home to work.

Now we've seen it in the TDF.  Quite sinister stuff, really.  And the pic of the nail in the motor-bike tyre at the end.

Some good sportsmanship, though.

Was just reading about it all on Cycling Central.

Idiot/s spoiling TDF. Who would have won if cyclists did not show sportsmanship? Perhaps the best way to spoil the thoughtless prank. Already shown that when one cyclist goes down, many go down and some with serious injuries.
