The school holidays are approaching.

Would people be interested in some sort of mid week kids ride?

I am thinking of about 15 Km.

While this would be a very gentle ride for regular cyclists for kids or first timers (kids over 18) it may be good.

My kids and I are staying at Adelaide Shores Caravan park during the 2nd week of the holidays. As we always take our bikes on our camping trips we could possibly meet up somewhere, possibly a ride along Linear Park from Henley Beach to the Weir or vice versa.

What did you have in mind Don??

Initially I was thinking that there is a park near Scotch College on Old Belair Road from here up Brown Hill Creek Road and return.

From the shores up the linear park and perhaps back around the southern side of the airport past the skate park would work as well.

I often take my girl to the box track on pulteney st, they have BBQ fav there and it's a blast, we ride there or sometimes bikes go in ute!

Lots of families there, it's fun for all!

Either Brown Hill Creek Road or Linear Park would work for me.  Problem for me is that I will most likely also have a 4yo that I've got to somehow scythe off onto another family member for a few hours, and that I'm not sure that I personally have much time available off work...  My wife may join though....  Depends on what day...  We'll juggle accordingly.

Here's a solution for that 4y.o., a Weehoo iGo.

My five year old has been in it for over a year now and loves it, and best of all he can keep us rolling at 15km/h on the flat with no assistance from me.

That's our helmets in the seat by the way.

http://youtu.be/Nq1378dzgp0  the (slightly older) kid in the vid. is claimed to push at 15mph and I wouldn't doubt it.

Haha!  Love it...

However, for some reason I'm just not that keen on those devices for us.  I don't think I'd use it much and the way she is going, she'll be up and at it soon enough...

Thanks for the idea though.

My pleasure.

Yeah, my lad is enjoying mastering the 2 wheeler at the moment, but for shopping trips and on road rides it's really working for us ("can I please put some shopping in my panniers, Dad?").

The sense of responsibility definitely rises with my precious cargo trailing behind though, not sure I'd do it on road in the big smoke.

Hope you get out for a ride anyway.

Would meeting at Harold and Cynthia Anderson Reserve near the play equipment work?

There is parking and a toilet there.

It is near the corner of Stanhope Street and Seaview Road

It is posibal get to the linear park from here without going on the road.

Tuesday or Wednesday would be my preferred days but it is not a strong preference.

Depending on the kids and the confidence of the parents on their kids riding on the road there could be an out and return along the linear park or return via McDonald's at harbor town for a cheap ice cream.

I may be able to borrow a tag along for the ride if needed.

while they seem a good idea I would imagine kids would soon outgrow them.
